Job Title: Accountant (Behavioral Health System and Housing Organization)

Job Summary: We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accountant to join our team at a leading Behavioral Health System and Housing Organization. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing financial transactions, preparing financial reports, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations. This role will play a crucial part in maintaining the financial health and integrity of our organization as we continue to provide essential services to our community.

Responsibilities:

1. Manage day-to-day financial transactions including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll processing, and general ledger entries.

2. Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, statements, and forecasts.

3. Assist in budget preparation and monitor budget variances to ensure financial goals are met.

4. Reconcile bank statements and general ledger accounts regularly to ensure accuracy and identify discrepancies.

5. Coordinate and liaise with external auditors during the annual audit process, providing necessary documentation and explanations.

6. Ensure compliance with relevant accounting principles, standards, and regulations (GAAP, IRS, etc.).

7. Analyze financial data and trends to provide insights and recommendations for improving financial performance and efficiency.

8. Assist in the development and implementation of internal controls and procedures to safeguard assets and mitigate financial risks.

9. Collaborate with other departments to provide financial information and support for decision-making processes.

10. Stay updated on changes in accounting regulations and best practices, and implement necessary changes to ensure compliance and efficiency.

11. Participate in special projects and initiatives as assigned by senior management.

Requirements:

1. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. CPA certification is preferred.

2. Proven experience (3+ years) working as an accountant, preferably in a nonprofit or healthcare setting.

3. Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and regulatory requirements.

4. Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP) and Microsoft Excel.

5. Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data.

6. Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills.

7. Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across different departments.

8. Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.

9. Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and integrity in handling sensitive financial information.

10. Knowledge of Medicaid/Medicare reimbursement processes and regulations is a plus.
