POSITION: Outreach Automotive Equipment Operator – Part-time Hourly LOCATIONS: SevernSALARY RANGE: $16.07 - $20.28/hr. HOURS: 12-15 hours/week – Schedule flexible within Monday – Friday between 9:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Overall Position Purpose: Automotive equipment operation in the delivery of library services to locations surrounding the Severn Library and, at times, outside of this service area. Responsibility for the safe operation of the equipment and knowledge of maintenance and upkeep. The vehicle is expected to be driven to community centers, churches, neighborhoods, daycares, shelters, Fort Meade Military Base, and other areas prioritized by the library branch to deliver outreach services. A knowledge of locations and routes within the county and, specifically, the Severn area would be helpful. Work may include loading and unloading the vehicle as needed depending on the sites visited that day. Work extends to fueling, cleaning, and delivering the vehicle to the appropriate locations for preventative maintenance and repairs, although emergency repairs or adjustments may be required. Work is performed under the daily supervision of the staff assigned to the vehicle, and the general supervision of the Assistant Branch Manager I. Minimum Qualifications: Experience in the operation and servicing of medium cargo trucks and educational training that results in knowledge of simple arithmetic and a reading and writing level necessary for successful job performance; or an equivalent combination of experience and training that has provided the knowledge, abilities and skills listed in the job description. Some experience in customer service or working with children preferred. Preferred requirement: Spanish language skills. Necessary Special Requirement: Possession of a valid non-commercial class C motor vehicle operator's license issued by the State of Maryland with proof of a good driving record.
