Syms Strategic Group (SSG) is seeking a talented Senior Database Architect Department: Veterans Affairs Location: On-site, Washington, DC Type: Full Time Min. Experience: Experienced Security Clearance Level: Public Trust (MBI) Salary Range: $118,737 - $140,000 Military Veterans are highly encouraged to apply! Essential Duties and Responsibilities This is an on-site, customer facing position in downtown Washington DC supporting a federal government client. Remote work is not available.

Serve as the Lead Database Architect

Participate in stakeholder meetings to understand and document technical requirements.

Collaborate with team to generate technical documentation including development planning, technical architecture, software testing, and deployment process.

Participate in the development and execution of Change Management and Release Management Plans.

Provide recommendations for improvements and alternative solutions as part of an analysis of alternatives (AOA), with the goal of improving the stability, reliability, and availability of the Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW).

Make internal and systematic changes to technical aspects as part of change management processes.

Participate in team calls and meetings.

Provide accurate and timely status reports on the progress of assigned tasks.

Coach and mentor team members.

Create and maintain documentation on processes and procedures and participate in period reviews of existing processes.

Provide after-hours remote support for incidents and emergencies as needed.

Be available on Government site in Washington, DC during normal hours of operations.

Required Skills and Experience

Perform multiple engineering-related tasks in various assignments within the project and firm.

Broad knowledge of engineering procedures.

Strong technical skills and background.

A knack for learning new technologies.

A blend of good problem-solving and innovation.

Professional Certifications n/a

Years of Professional Experience Five (5) years of relevant experience

Desired experience Prior experience in a federal data warehouse and understanding of government procedures and regulations

Formal Education Master’s Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Systems, Business or related scientific/technical discipline or 15 years of additional relevant experience may be substituted for education

Citizenship Requirement U.S. Citizenship required for this specific opportunity

Security Clearance Requirements Must possess or qualify for a Public Trust (MBI)
