Sole proprietor Orthopaedic massage practice seeks an experienced licensed massage therapist motivated to train and when you are meeting the expectations of clientele, I will transfer ownership of the practice.
This business has been a part of the Portland wellness community for 8 years, and has a reputation for advanced medical and orthopaedic practices. The case load is full time and then some.
This is an opportunity that will start as part time and how quickly it evolves into full time, and how quickly I step away, will be determined by several things. Possibly 2-12 months.
Regular meetups for trainings/ trades will be planned for. You will be learning from lineages of soft tissue medicine not taught in schools, and this will become the primary mode of your assessments.
I will be looking for 1-2 committed persons who plan to stick around the area and stay in the field.
Ideal applicants will have 2 years of therapeutic massage work behind you, a knowledge and interest in the terminology of anatomy-physiology, some medical conditions, some psychology and sociology knowledge, an ability or willingness to see beyond the limited scope of allopathic contemporary models, and a level of empathy that opens you to working with disabilities, elders, and children as well as adults. You are capable of performing full time bodywork and practice good self care. You have a passion for healing, are self motivated to learn and invest time into this apprenticeship.
