The Western Foothills Land Trust (WFLT) is a non-profit that protects over 7,000 acres in the greater Oxford Hills and manages 30 miles of recreational trails on 6 preserves. One preserve, Roberts Farm in Norway, includes groomed Nordic trails, a warming hut, and an active winter schedule of events and programs. WFLT is a growing organization that seeks to hire an energetic, motivated individual to fill the role of part-time Program Coordinator. The Program Coordinator will work approximately 20 hours/week to develop, implement, and grow WFLT community offerings including events and education sessions, guest speakers, and land-based activities for all ages. This is a grant-funded position with potential for continued employment. WFLT is an equal opportunity employer.

Areas of responsibility include:

Working with the Executive Director and the Board to fulfill the outreach/communications and program needs of WFLT in the community supporting all public-facing events with organizing, planning, related communications and follow-up.

Design, lead and implement innovative programs with user groups in partnership with other local partner institutions.

Raise awareness via social media, web and print and other community channels- support all communications efforts regarding the Trust, its mission and the programs it offers.

Lead staffing and finding volunteers for programs and events in the community.

Help with organization, registration, and volunteer staffing of the Norway Triathlon.

Work in partnership with WFLT board committees to make the organization a success.

Qualifications:

Demonstrated leadership, communication, and task-management capabilities.

Outstanding interpersonal skills. Ability to work with people of all ages. Extroverted with ability to generate enthusiasm for conservation and land protection.

Ability to work independently to create and manage projects and work plans.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills are critical as demonstrated proficiency with social media and the ability to lead groups.

Knowledge of science, outdoor skills, natural resource systems and western Maine a plus.

Experience with a conservation organization and working in communities useful, but not required.

Nordic skiing experience a plus.

Must meet public school requirements for background check and volunteer training. Current CPR and Basic First Aid a plus. A Bachelor's degree (or higher) in a closely related field is preferred.
