GROUNDS LABORER
Pineland Farms Grounds Department | Located at 32 Farm View Dr. New Gloucester, Maine
Job Summary:
A Groundskeeper, or Landscaper, is responsible for maintaining an aesthetically-pleasing and functional outdoor space. Their duties include planting flowers and shrubbery, weeding, and maintaining the beautiful landscape at Pineland Farms public garden, campus and other properties.
Responsibilities (including but not limited to):
Prepping beds, planting and caring for our vegetable, annual, cutting and display gardens.
Watering, propagation and transplanting in our greenhouse.
Turf care and irrigation system upkeep.
Planting, edging and mulching of landscape beds.
Planting and transplanting trees and shrubs around the grounds and Christmas tree farm.
Working with cut flowers and creating arrangements for weddings, guest houses and The Market.
Monitoring and turning of compost piles.
Pruning and care of our apple orchards, roses, shrubs and ornamental trees.
Installing hardscapes, new landscape beds and other garden features.
Keeping the grounds, gardens and various properties weed free, trash free and looking their best.
Interacting with the public, tour buses and children in our one-acre public garden.
Requirements:
Full-time seasonal positions starting mid-April (40 hours/week Mon.-Fri. 7-3:30). Willing to consider part-time schedules.
Must be physically fit and willing to work in all types of weather.
Must be able to lift 50 lbs. from knee to waist.
Must have current driver’s license in good standing.
Ability to work collaboratively, as well as independently, in a team-oriented environment.
Must work well with the public.
Willingness to work a flexible schedule.
Self-motivation and a good attitude are essential.
Must be 18 years of age or older.
