Dining Services – Sous Chef
North Yarmouth Academy is seeking a positive, engaged, and passionate sous chef to join our dynamic dining services team. The ideal candidate is enthusiastic about nourishing young minds and bodies through high-quality meals and is committed to creating a welcoming and efficient dining experience for our students, faculty, and staff. This position reports to the Dining Services Manager.
Key Responsibilities:
Support the executive chef in daily kitchen operations and meal preparation.
Ensure smooth and timely service during all meal periods, including special events.
Assist in training and mentoring kitchen staff to uphold food safety and quality standards.
Receive and inspect food deliveries, ensuring proper storage and inventory rotation.
Maintain a clean, organized, and compliant kitchen environment.
Collaborate with the team to accommodate dietary restrictions and food allergies.
Uphold a culture of accountability, reliability, and teamwork.
Other duties as determined by the executive chef
Qualifications:
Minimum two years of experience as a sous chef or in a similar leadership culinary role (preferred).
Manager-level Food Handler’s Certification (required).
School dining experience and allergen certification (preferred but not required).
Ability to lift up to 40lbs and stand for extended periods of time.
Strong communication skills and a collaborative spirit.
Passion for feeding children and contributing to a positive school community.
Schedule:
Wednesday through Sunday 11am – 7pm
