Sissle & Daughters is a soon-to-open all-day cafe, wine bar, and grocer in Portland’s Woodford’s Corner neighborhood, from the folks at The Cheese Shop of Portland. Our focus is on quality from the ingredients we source, foods we cook, and service we provide. We aim to create a positive work environment full of opportunities to learn and create meaningful connections with our colleagues and customers. Hiring for October training, with an expected mid-October opening.
We are looking for an individual to round out or small but might retail team. A qualified person must be passionate about great ingredients, cooking, and sharing the knowledge that develops in our establishment. Wine knowledge is important, along with a general enthusiasm for food and sharing with others! Most shifts will be early afternoon until late evening (2-8pm, occasionally 8am-4pm)
Primary Responsibilities:
Register work. Seamlessly ring through customers while having an attentive and friendly demeanor.
Basic but growing wine knowledge is a must!
Restocking shelves and prepared food cooler.
Labeling house-made items.
Maintaining proper signage.
Maintaining cleanliness and appearance around the shop.
Contribute to a positive and collaborative team environment, working effectively alongside the entire team, across departments.
Execute nightly closing protocol.
Qualifications:
Attention to detail and high cleanliness standards.
Ability to work independently and follow standards of quality
Ability to stand and work for 8+ hours.
Able to lift 50+ pounds.
Available to work weekends and holiday lead up is a must.
