General Manager

The Gutter is a bar and bowling alley opening a new location in Biddeford, Maine. We are looking for an energetic General Manager with a can-do attitude. We have a full bar, bowling alley, and a small kitchen. We are looking for a strong leader to manage scheduling, ordering, and general day to day operations. The GM must excel at customer service and be skilled with office logistics. Everyone in our management team is responsible for handling minor lane issues, and our mechanics will train you. Being comfortable working with your hands is a must.

Our GMs are motivators who establish and maintain strong and effective relationships with management, employees and customers. Our GMs must be able to work independently, under pressure, and use sound business judgment - while keeping an eye on the future by ensuring guest satisfaction, employee dedication, and profit maximization.

The Gutter was founded in Williamsburg, Brooklyn in 2007 with 8 vintage bowling lanes, a small music venue, and a focus on American independent craft beer. Our second location opened in Long Island City, Queens in 2017. In 2020 the third and largest location opened on the Lower East Side of Manhattan. Biddeford, with 8 lanes, will be our fourth location.

GM RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES

Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

- Controlling day-to-day operations

- Team development

- Labor control

- Manage Beer, Liquor, Food, Merch, COGs

- Oversee asset & facility management

- Strategize with team on promotions & social media

- Oversee all avenues that drive revenue & maintain guest satisfaction

- Follow and maintain sanitary standards and procedures

- Create a positive working environment for all employees

- Manage and develop Floor Managers

- Oversee all FOH & BOH positions

- Oversee creation and pricing of bar and food menus

- Oversee management of bowling leagues

- Manage party reservations, events and production rentals

GM MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

- A minimum of 3 years in high-volume Bar/Restaurant management

- P & L and COGS experience and history of working with accounting personnel

- Experience with HR related responsibilities

- Team player with a positive attitude and problem-solving skills

- Deep knowledge of beer, food, and cocktail items

- Excellent communication skills

- Working knowledge of POS systems, Google Suite, Microsoft Excel and similar programs

- Ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends and holidays

- Bowling experience and/or basic mechanical abilities a plus

- ServSafe Food Management certification required

Base Salary of $65-70K depending on experience
