Sissle & Daughters is a soon-to-open all-day cafe, wine bar, and grocer in Portland’s Woodford’s Corner neighborhood, from the folks at The Cheese Shop of Portland. Our focus is on quality from the ingredients we source, foods we cook, and service we provide. There’s nothing like a great cup of coffee to start your day on a positive note. We see offering our customers their morning cortado, latte, or americano as a great responsibility and are looking for baristas who take pride in the product they put out into the world.
Primary Responsibilities:
Provide excellent customer service–service that’s friendly, down-to-earth, accommodating and aims to cultivate regulars.
● Ensure the top quality and presentation of all beverages.
● Maintain a high standard of cleanliness, sanitation, and organization behind the bar.
● Handle customer complaints quickly and courteously.
● Proactively yet tactfully encourage upsells.
● Perform opening and closing duties as well as side work at the start and end of each shift as assigned.
Qualifications
● Barista experience a plus.
● A passion for giving great customer service.
● Self-motivated and driven to exceed expectations.
● Basic knowledge of coffee and strong interest in building more extensive knowledge.
● Extremely organized with exceptional attention to detail and the ability to multi-task.
● Great communication skills.
● A flexible schedule (mornings and weekends are our busiest times…plus holidays)
● A team player with a willingness to jump in and help with all tasks.
