Sissle & Daughters is a soon-to-open all-day cafe, wine bar, and grocer in Portland’s Woodford’s Corner neighborhood, from the folks at The Cheese Shop of Portland. Our focus is on quality from the ingredients we source, foods we cook, and service we provide. We aim to create a positive work environment full of opportunities to learn and create meaningful connections with our colleagues and customers. Hiring for September training. At the Sissle & Daughters Wine Bar, light fare is portioned and plated right at the bar, rather than in the kitchen. We are looking to fill this dynamic role that blends back-of-house skills with a front-of-house service mindset.
Responsibilities:
Opens & closes back bar station.
Portions and plates food for service.
Make espresso drinks when needed.
Ability to work in partnership with bartender to create seamless service experience.
Keep tabs on inventory and communicate needed items to Chef in timely manner.
Place daily order with kitchen.
Plates food with an eye for the aesthetic and care for the work that went into creating it.
Contribute to a positive and collaborative team environment, working effectively alongside the entire team, across departments.
Qualifications:
Experience in both front and back-of-house a plus, but experience in one or the other is a must.
Some barista experience a plus.
Organized and detail oriented.
Ability to work well under pressure.
Ability to stand and work for 8+ hours.
Available to work weekends and some holidays
Basic knife skills.
Attention to detail.
Care for aesthetic of plating food with respect for the work that went into producing it.
