Teaching position available working with two and a half and three
year olds at the Gazebo School in York, Maine. This is a co-teaching
position in a classroom with 10 two and three olds. The school year
position begins September 2, 2025. Job description includes
planning and executing developmentally appropriate curriculum in
the emergent curriculum style; general supervision of children in the
indoor and outdoor classrooms; completion of developmental
assessments for each child; general classroom maintenance;
communication with families and other staff, and adherence to the
Rules of Licensing for the State of Maine. Much of our curriculum
with this age is based on developing self help skills, play skills, and
building friendships. Patience, a sense of humor, flexibility, and an
enjoyment of the outdoors are qualities that we are looking for.
Requirements include some course work in the field of Child
Development, and/or experience in working with young children.
Other qualifying qualities are a passion for outdoor education and
being outside. Some training in the Gazebo philosophy would be
provided.
Hours: 2 full days (likely Wed and Fri) from 8:00-4:30 and 3 half
days, from 7:30-12:45.
Pay Range: Position starts between $18-$20 an hour, depending on
education and experience. There is also a monthly stipend available
from the State of Maine, amount dependent on your tier level with
Maine Roads to Quality.
