City of Portland - Auto Technician IIAUTO TECHNICIAN II - DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS – Fleet ServicesUp to $2,500 Sign On Bonus AvailableSchedule will be Monday thru Friday, 6:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. (includes paid lunch break).The Department of Public Works is seeking a skilled individual to perform general service, overhaul and repair work on light and heavy-duty trucks and other automotive and mechanical equipment.Required Skills & Abilities: This position requires knowledge of diagnosis, operation of gasoline and diesel engines, and standard practices of the mechanic trade. Must possess valid Maine Class B driver's license (Class A desired) or have ability to obtain within six (6) months (City will help to obtain Class A or B license). Must possess valid Vehicle Inspection License A, D & E (can obtain within 6 months) and must provide copies of license. Successful applicants must pass pre-employment medical exam and fitness assessment and pass federally mandated drug test upon attainment of CDL permit Must have and maintain a good driving record.Applications accepted until filledOffers of employment are contingent upon the completion of a satisfactory criminal background check.Salary & Benefits:This is a union position, Labor & Trades (Grade 61) - Salary range of $29.77 to $33.86/hr.The City of Portland prides itself on its outstanding benefits and collegial and mission-driven work environment.
