We are looking for an outgoing, upbeat, self starter who enjoys science, especially sea life - to help us with our scientific specimen supply business. Must be organized, self learning, and have abilities to communicate with science, research, aquarium, & educational accounts. Some work will involve engagement with state agencies biologists, marine patrol, and various ngo's and university staff.
This job is quite varied; lots of field work, working with fishermen, harvesters, diggers, and divers to source individual species of interest. Some travel around the state for collecting specimens. Ability to solicit orders, maintain communication, and deliver high quality live and preserved biological specimens to longstanding customer/sales accounts.
Experience with foraging or in commercial fishing will be a plus. Knowledge of marine, freshwater, and terrestrial habitats is helpful. Some tasks can be physically challenging at times, but slow and steady will win the race every time. Much of the work revolves around low tides early and late in the day, so the hours will be flexible and rotating. Experience working on the water with small boats, nets, etc. is helpful. Will train and license as necessary.
