Ambulatory Medication Coordinator

Position Summary:The individual will be responsible for assisting with receipt and inventory management of specific medications in accordance with State and Federal regulations and maintaining hospital and clinic standards of practice. In addition, the coordinator will act as a liaison between insurance companies, patients, pharmacies, providers, and others. The individual will be responsible for medication prior authorization and coordination with appropriate stakeholders. This position requires competency in medical office activities such as computer literacy, excellent keyboarding, data management and excellent communication using various means of written or verbal methods. The individual will provide cordial and efficient coordination and communication of activities between all stakeholders, display the ability to prioritize tasks and demonstrate a high level of organization and exhibit exquisite attention to detail. In addition, office and other administrative support may be provided to the pharmacy department and St. Joseph Internal Medicine (SJIM) as requested. The coordinator will ensure strict patient confidentiality and HIPAA compliance along with the highest level of ethical standards. A high level of productivity and co-worker satisfaction is required. The individual will be required to perform all tasks in a manner that is consistent with the Mission and Core Values of St. Joseph Hospital. The position will report to the Director of Pharmacy and will be under the direct supervision of the pharmacy operations manager and the St. Joseph Internal Medicine (SJIM) office manager. Duties in this position will be predominantly carried out at SJIM. However, some activities and training may also occur in the Pharmacy Department at St. Joseph Hospital.Education: High School Diploma/GED Experience: 1 – 3 years (preferred)The starting rate for this position is: $18.74.
