Firestone Polymers, LLC is a subsidiary of Bridgestone Americas, a division of Bridgestone Corporation, the world's largest tire and rubber company.Job CategoryLegal, Compliance & AuditPosition SummaryWe are seeking a Senior Health and Safety Specialist (Fire Protection and Safety)like you to join our amazing team!The Senior Health and Safety Specialist is committed to the enforcement of plant policy as directed in matters of plant security, safety, fire protection, and personal conduct. Responsible for emergency response. Must be able to fulfill the responsibilities of all positions within the department. Must be able to acquire and maintain a United States Coast Guard, Transportation Workers Identification Credential (TWIC).ResponsibilitiesIn this role, your primary responsibilities will include:

Being a subject matter expert for the plants Fire Prevention, Inspection Testing & Maintenance Program which includes sprinkler & suppression systems, fire pumps, fire extinguishers, fire hoses, hydrant, post indicator valves, monitors, fire alarms, foam, fire water supply, & impairment reporting.

Conducting routine inspections of fire, safety, and security equipment. Documents the condition and reports findings to the Manager of Safety and Health or Safety Supervisor.

Act as a liaison with insurance providers, & corporate representatives in matters related to fire prevention.

Conducts OSHA compliance inspections of areas of the plant. Documents the condition and reports findings to the Manager of Safety and Health.

Conducts safety training (procedures, use of PPE, etc.) as needed to support the Training Department including preparing and presenting topics for monthly safety meetings

Reviews safe operating procedures and update as needed.

Completes atmospheric testing for Line Breaks and confirms that testing is within stated limits before entering data on General Work Permit.

Maintains equipment for flammable/explosive detection and ensures that equipment has been calibrated as scheduled and bump tested before each day’s use.

Issues Hot Work and Confined Space Permits throughout the plant

Participates in routine audits conducted by floor level teammates, front line supervisors, and management as requested and provides input and follow-up on the resolution of findings from these audits.

Directs Fire Brigade personnel during plant fires and other emergencies (rescue, HAZMAT response, etc.) on off-shifts holidays and weekends.

Trained in and serves as On-Site Incident Commander during plant emergencies that require On-Site Incident Command.

Investigates and documents (reports and photographs) all unusual incidents and accidents on assigned shift. Issues report before the end of that current shift.

Participates in fire brigade, HAZMAT, and Rescue drills and instructs teammates on the use of all equipment, procedures, and communications.

Conducts safety orientation to teammates, contractors, and visitors as needed.

Issues Hazardous Work Permits as required. These are tasks that are not specifically covered under other plant Safety Procedures.

Audits erection of all new scaffolding and completes scaffolding checklist at the completion of each audit.

Serves as a firewatch for welding/burning in certain hazardous situations.

Provides first aid/CPR on off-shifts and weekends, transports injured teammates to Emergency Room if an ambulance is not warranted.

Conducts routine Contractor Safety Audits and documents and submits reports of those audits.

Physical Requirements:

Must be in good physical condition

Able to don bunker gear effectively.

Able to wear bunker gear and SCBA.

Able to climb multiple (5) flights of stairs in full emergency response gear.

Able to pass respirator fit testing.

Preferred Qualifications

Certified Fire Protection Specialist (CFPS) or

A.S or B.S in Fire Protection or a related field
