Lumber Yard Load Puller
Location: Covington, LA
Job Summary:
We are looking for a reliable and hardworking Lumber Yard Load Puller to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for efficiently and safely pulling and preparing lumber and other materials for delivery. You will work closely with other yard staff to ensure that customer orders are fulfilled accurately and promptly while maintaining a clean and organized work environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Load and Pull Lumber: Accurately pull and stage lumber and building materials according to customer orders and specifications.
Loading and Unloading: Assist with the loading and unloading of trucks, ensuring proper handling of materials to avoid damage.
Inventory Management: Maintain accurate inventory records by ensuring that materials are pulled and tracked according to company procedures.
Safety: Follow all safety protocols, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), to ensure a safe working environment.
Equipment Operation: Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other equipment as needed to move materials in the yard.
Material Handling: Ensure materials are organized and stored in the proper locations, keeping the yard clean and free of hazards.
Customer Service: Assist customers in locating specific materials and ensure orders are pulled and prepared for delivery or pick-up in a timely manner.
Quality Control: Inspect lumber and materials for damage or defects before they are loaded for delivery.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
Physical Stamina: Ability to lift heavy materials and stand for long periods.
Attention to Detail: Ability to pull orders accurately, ensuring the correct materials are selected.
Forklift and Equipment Operation: Experience operating forklifts or similar material-handling equipment is a plus.
Organization Skills: Ability to keep materials and the yard organized for maximum efficiency.
Safety Awareness: Strong knowledge of safety protocols and a commitment to working safely in a yard environment.
Communication Skills: Clear communication with team members, supervisors, and customers to ensure smooth operations.
Preferred Experience:
Previous experience in a lumber yard or similar warehouse setting.
Forklift certification or the willingness to obtain one.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift heavy materials (up to [insert weight limit]) and carry them throughout the day.
Ability to work in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, or rain.
