About us
1000 Figs is a small restaurant in Faubourg St. John (Ponce de Leon and Esplanade Ave.) with a fresh, vegetable-forward, Middle Eastern-inspired menu. Our restaurant seeks to serve vibrant, thoughtful food with warm and delightful service. We are looking for a restaurant team that is passionate about making great food, giving excellent service, and being a part of a workplace community that is fun, supportive, and engaged.
This position requires strong communication skills, organization, and an eagerness to constantly learn and improve. The ideal candidate will also be able to function in a fast-paced, busy environment as a part of a team while interacting respectfully with coworkers, managers, and customers.

Line Cook Job Description
This position is a combination of line cooking and expediting. The challenge is to understand the intricacies and subtle differences of each combination of dishes on their station. They should use their source materials to remember how to appropriately plate each platter, feast, and a la carte item. It is important that the person in this position is swift, organized, clear headed and calm. Communication is their number one vital skill. They must be able to communicate to the kitchen and to the front of house, all the while putting out beautiful food. It is their responsibility to prepare themselves for each service, and also to ask for help before any sketchy instances arise.
Performance Expectations (Essential Functions)
Act as line cook during lunch and/or dinner service
Prepare food based on the standards outlined in training materials
Is comfortable tasting for quality and consistency and able to adjust if necessary
Communicate effectively with a team.
Ensure that food comes out in a timely fashion, in time according to the expeditor
Maintain food quality standards
Accurately and thoroughly complete lists outlining opening and closing tasks, as well as specific station checklists, with special attention paid to stocking and setting the entire team up for success
Be able to communicate effectively with your station partner at shift changes
Perform daily cleaning tasks
Maintain a clean and organized work station
Able to assist with the production of catering orders
Ensure all food and other items are labeled and stored properly
Comply with nutrition and sanitation regulations and safety standards
Safely using ovens, ranges, fryers, and knives to prepare items
Assist in keeping the walk-in clean and organized
Daily check-in with chef de cuisine
Attend kitchen meetings as scheduled
