The SCU JNT is responsible for delivery of non-professional customer care according to the established policies of the department, West Jefferson Medical Center and the Louisiana State Board of Nursing. The SCU JNT demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to assist the nursing personnel in providing care to acutely ill pediatric patients with cardiac, respiratory, gastrointestinal, medical, surgical, and critical care needs. The SCU JNT works in collaboration with and under direct supervision of the Registered Nurse (RN) in the delivery of care to patients who are at moderate to high risk requiring possible non routine care with unpredictable outcomes. The SCU JNT is mentored by the RN and recognizes his/her personal and legal limitations and seeks assistance and guidance appropriately.
