Job Description

RESUME REQUIRED WITH REFERENCES.

Employment type: Full-Time

Private optometry practice seeks qualified applicant for the position of Optometric Assistant

The ideal applicant will have prior experience but we will train the right person if needed.

Primary skills required:

Excellent telephone and people skillsbeing confident and comfortable with people of all ages.

Good typing skills are requiredability to use Microsoft Word.

Greeting and checking in patients in a professional manner will be a primary job requirement.

Answering phones in a professional manner and scheduling patients.

Training contact lens patients on proper hygiene, insertion, removal, disinfection and storage of their lenses may be required.

The applicant should possess good to excellent math skills.

Understanding how to operate and efficiently use all the diagnostic equipment will be expected after training period.

Need to be comfortable with rapidly entering patient data into EMR, previous experience and certification a plus, excellent computer knowledge of Microsoft office mandatory.

This is a FULL TIME Mon-Fri position.

Job Summary:

The applicant will directly assist and report to the Office Manager.

Duties will also involve:

Assisting the Office Manager by preparing the proper contact lenses.

Assisting patients in frame selection for eyeglasses, determining pupil distance, seg height and frame adjustment.

Obtaining patient Lensometry of habitual Rx as needed.

Organizing and cleaning of Exam Rooms and weekly housekeeping.

Coordinate patient schedules, answering phones, meet and greet patients in a professional manner.

Documenting all patient contact in EHR system

Follow up phone calls for pre-appointments as needed.

Patient Education as needed.

Maintaining OSHA and HIPPA regulations

Duties to be added as needed

Assisting patients who have difficulty ambulating.

Requirements:

High School Diploma Required. Any college level work or college graduate is a plus!

Previous Ophthalmic/Optometric Assisting experience preferred, however we will train the right team member for the job.

Must provide excellent personal and professional references.

Friendly, sweet, caring and empathetic person to assist people from all demographics.

Happy and upbeat phone voice and the ability to smile through a busy work day

Computer skills are essential to success in this position!
