Supplemental InformationThis announcement is to fill two (2) vacancies.This position is located in the Acadiana Area Human Services District – Dr. Joseph Henry Tyler Behavioral Health Clinic located in Lafayette. This incumbent will function in the capacity of a behavioral health counselor, serving the acute and/or chronically mentally ill adult population, the emotionally/behaviorally disturbed child/adolescent population and their families and/or clients with addictive disorders/co-occurring disorders. The incumbent will collaborate with psychiatrists, medical psychologists, nurses, pharmacists, and support staff regarding therapeutic interventions, diagnosis, and provision of evidence-based treatments via individual, family, or group therapy for clients indicated as meeting target population criteria.This incumbent will possess and maintain the necessary licensure as either a Licensed Professional Counselor or a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist by the Louisiana Professional Counselors Board of Examiners.This AAHSD SITE is NHSC (National Health Service Corps) APPROVED. Conducts complex assessments and independent selection and use of varied in-depth therapies in the treatment of individuals with multi-problem dual diagnosis substance abuse problems (as defined by the Licensed Professional Counselors Board of Examiners in Rule (LAC 46:LX.503.e)). Develops and plans casework services and treatment for individuals with specialized problems in development, retardation, maladjustment, or dependency. Develops and plans services that address and/or include family therapy, marital counseling, child abuse and sexual abuse therapy, major family disruption, developmental disabilities, death, and suicide. May provide training in caseload principles and practices and ensuring compliance with federal and state regulation, and agency policy and procedures. May serve as a lead-worker.
