If you want to take responsibility for an accounting and clerical department, Robert Half is looking for a Controller to join a national organization in the hospitality industry. This permanent position is for a Controller who will work in the Kenner, Louisiana region. You will succeed in this position if you can plan and direct all accounting operational functions, handle the accumulation and consolidation of financial data for internal and external financial statements, evaluate accounting and internal control systems, and lead departmental staff. This role's duties will require effectively managing self and others within strict time constraints when providing client services, leading while also being a team player, generating innovative ideas, and challenging the status quo. Manage the timing for monthly billing and other cash management techniques to make sure cash collection is on time
Work closely with executive team and partners to ensure efficient and successful firm-wide operation
Assure client expectations are met by reviewing deliverables of self and team
Advance Finance Department initiatives, such as software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, as needed, with research, planning and implementation
Guide all operations of the finance department, including accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll
Prepare cash-flow reports that project cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals, and handle daily cash management
Analyze, apply and improve policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies
Able to perform additional tasks beyond formal job duties
Give executive committee and partners monthly financial reports
Complete month-end and year-end close of income statement and balance sheet, reconcile accounts, and handle G/L analysis
Manage the production of and monthly monitoring of the annual budget and forecasts
Requirements
BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field
Excellent oral and written communications skills
Prior experience in a public accounting environment is highly valued
Skillful in analytical, quantitative and social skills
Outstanding technology, analytics and management experience required
Self-starter, ability to identify issues and resolve problems
Advanced credentials such as a Masters of Business Administration / MBA or Certified Public Accountant / CPA are preferred
7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred
High attention to detail and possesses excellent organizational and writing skills
Full Cycle Accounting experience desired
Gaming law experience
Deep understanding of Microsoft Excel
Month end closings experience preferred
Comfortable working in a changing and dynamic environment
Ability to prioritize work and balance multiple projects and deadlines
Skilled in the construction and delivery of effective presentations to audiences with wide-ranging backgrounds
