Participate in the administration of the enterprise database management system including change management, security, performance, replication and disaster recovery. The position will also contribute to the ongoing evaluation of database and software development technologies to determine their relevance and suitability to the administrative software development environment at LSU. Job Responsibilities Database Administrator 2:Database Administration: Architect and implement database applications/infrastructures typical of those required to support a large organization and capable of adapting to database structure changes in a dynamic business setting. Perform activities related to administration of LSU enterprise databases and other project-based databases, including capacity planning, logical and physical database design, data integrity and normalization, implementations, configuration and tuning, monitoring and audition, backup and recovery.Maintain database reliability and availability. Develop, implement and enhance database disaster recovery procedures for a large organization. Document processes and procedures related to database administrative activities. Exploit features of new DBMS releases and introduce those features to database and application analysts. (70%)Support: Provide technical support and training to analysts and end users as needed in solving database related problems in a professional manner. Conduct trainings on database and SQL topics. Develop and maintain procedures, scripts, and job schedules to automate or facilitate database operations and maintenance. (20%)Other duties as assigned. (30%)zOS System Adminstration: Research and resolve zOS system problems in collaboration with other Computing Services systems analysts. Provide consultation to and collaboration with operations staff, programmers/analysts, Help Desk personnel, and users in the resolution of software problems and the exploitation of zOS functionality. (10%)Other duties as assigned. (10%)Minimum Qualifications Database Administrator 2:- Bachelor's Degree
- 1-2 years of Database administration experience.
- Developing and maintaining database structures, both on-premise and on-cloud, in a business setting.
- Knowledge of policies and issues related to database administration.
- Experience in developing and maintaining database applications/infrastructures typical of those required to support a large organization.
- Master's Degree in Computer Science, information systems, engineering, or related degree.
- 3 years of experience performing all facets of database administration, On-Premise or Cloud.
- Professional experience in cloud-based databases/online analytical processing (OLAP)/data warehousing, such as Redshift, BigQuery, or Snowflake, is a plus.
- Familiarity with one or more enterprise level database management systems, such as DB2 for z/OS, DB2 for LUW, Oracle, MySQL, SQL Server or NoSQL.
- Experience with a variety of operating systems, such as Windows, Linux, z/OS, AIX, or cloud-based platforms, such as AWS or Azure.
- Bachelor's Degree
- 3-5 years
