[Annual Salary Range: $34,632.00 - $41,558.40 Grade: 21 (Employee: 7% on your current salary, whichever is greater; or 10.5% on your current salary, whichever is greater, if position is 3 grades or higher than current position) Appointment to a position in the classified service shall be at the minimum of the corresponding pay range unless otherwise approved.[Examination is announced to establish an employment list to fill vacancies in the Traffic Department and future vacancies as they occur to create designs, graphics, logos and signs for traffic control, events, festivals, non-profit and civic organizations and other government agencies, as well as City departments, Council members and administration. [Creates traffic control signs using computer and plotter following guidelines of the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD). Performs hand-lettering artwork on various surfaces for special projects as assigned. Designs and builds substructures for signs. Receives and reviews required forms and documents to include work orders, maps, invoices, graphic art, sign requisitions, diagrams, zoning maps and related information. Operates machinery and equipment to include a plotter, metal shearer, large format laminator, paper laminator, digital camera, overhead projector, large format digital sign printer, woodworking machine and basic office equipment; utilizes desktop publishing, graphic design and related software programs. High school diploma or GED, with vocational or technical school training in graphic design or related field; supplemented by two (2) years of experience in graphic design, creating public information signs and informational artwork,
with computerized sign making equipment preferred;
or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Must possess a valid drivers license.
Will be required to obtain a valid State of Louisiana Class D drivers license within one (1) month of hire.
Must obtain and maintain IMSA Work Zone Safety certification within six (6) months of hire.
Will be required to obtain a valid State of Louisiana at time of appointment and maintain throughout employment.
