Duties and required skills will include:
Venipuncture
Catheter placement
Obtaining radiographs
Monitoring anesthesia
Completed physical exam and patient assessments
Surgical preparation and assisting
Dentistry and dental x-rays
Abaxis lab equipment
Pharmacy
Animal handling skills and at least a basic understanding of animal behavior and low stress handling techniques
Ability to remain calm and multi-task in a stressful environment
Work positively as a team player
Ability to learn, apply new skills and follow through with directions and task
Effectively problem solve and make decisions as needed
Knowledge of medications and veterinary terminology
Obtain relevant information and maintain proper and complete medical records
Provide compassionate patient care for such things as vital assessments, feeding, cleaning.
Participate in continuing education and actively work to increase skills
Can handle conflict with maturity and emotional intelligence
Additional Duties
Assist in restocking the hospital supplies
Apply appropriate disinfection protocol when cleaning various areas of the hospital
Mentor team members as they are on their journey to become an LVT
Qualifications
Kentucky Veterinary Technician License (LVT) or eligible
Able to be on your feet for extended periods of time which often require bending, crouching, squatting, leaning over, twisting, reaching, upper body strength, hand strength, sitting on the floor, and other physical demands
Strong enough to handle a large dog pulling on a leash
Able to lift 40lbs unassisted
Available to work a four or five day work week Monday through Saturday including evenings
