You will also assist Material Planners/Representatives and help resolve their supply chain issues, to ensure part availability for our GE Appliances’ manufacturing plant.PositionSenior Material PlannerLocationUSA, Louisville, KYHow You'll Create PossibilitiesEssential Responsibilities:Production Support - ensure overall part availability for manufacturing operation:· Manage a portfolio of suppliers to maintain product availability and schedule achievement goals.· Manage daily production requirements received from plant Master Scheduler.· Communicate and prioritize trailers to Receiving Clerks and drivers.· Verify parts are available for production for current day.· Review for immediate part shortages; conduct physical sweeps of hot parts in the supermarket and at the production line as needed.· Respond to issues throughout the day from plant operations.· Set up expedite deliveries as needed.· Communicate with suppliers regarding shortages, overall part availability and future state production needs.· Resolves lot management/truck issues as needed.· Work with quality team to ensure proper inventory coverage when parts are rejected from working inventory.Training Requirements:· Identify and provide training needs for new and existing material planners.· Translate requirements into training SOP's that will enhance team competencies and stabilize inventory flow.· Assess training effectiveness to ensure corporation.Process Changes:· Driving process improvement within the materials planning team.· Work on projects with team and help to implement any processes.Part Portfolio Management:· Ensure inventory quantities, ASN/IRN’s, and receipts are accurate and maintained in a timely manner.· Work with Cycle Counters to maintain accurate inventory. Reconcile physical inventory vs. parts system. Investigate parts that have significant/ongoing discrepancies.· Own safety stock, lead time, shipment frequency, and minimum orders for all assigned parts.· Resolve supplier issues and inventory surplus/deficits as required.· Improve material availability to support production and customer requirements through corrective actions for availability/span issues, improved supplier response times, transportation planning and inventory management.· Drive inventory reduction through improved material planning, supplier cycle reductions, work-in-process improvements, vendor-managed inventory, etc.· Manage respective transportation and logistics costs to reduce inventory and drive productivity improvements.· Support plant and product variable cost productivity initiatives.Part Change Management:· Manage build-out process for supplier changes, including manual part ordering.· Manage the depletion of safety stock, wind down orders and conduct final part counts.· Lead and oversee the bank build process for supplier changes.· During new product introduction (NPI) events, communicate with suppliers to set up lead times, delivery dates, and safety stock for new parts.Other related duties as Assigned:· Perform safety audits and assignments related to plant materials safety.· Manage other special projects as necessary.What You'll Bring to Our TeamMinimum Qualifications:· 2 years of material planning experience.· Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain, engineering or other relevant field of study.Preferred Qualifications:· 5+ years of materials management experience within a high-volume manufacturing environment.· 5 years of experience working within a manufacturing environment.· Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, excellent interpersonal and communication skills.· Strong systems capabilities, including MRP/ERP systems and intermediate MS Word/Excel.· Understanding and prior usage/application of lean manufacturing principles.· Customer focus, high energy and aggressive approach to issues.· Excellent presentation skills and solid verbal/written communication skills.· Initiative and ability to handle multiple priorities and tasks.· Supplier management experience and project implementation.· Awareness of current technology and advances in the field of supply chain management· APICS certification.· Six Sigma certification.Working Conditions:· Working conditions are normal for both an office and manufacturing environment.· Work may involve lifting of materials and product up to 30 pounds.· Working in the manufacturing environment requires the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to: safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, work shoes/boots.· Work may require occasional weekend and/or evening work.Our CultureAt GE Appliances, creativity meets passion and conversations lead to exceptional outcomes and experiences.
