They empower employees, community members and initiatives across their service territory through volunteerism and investments in organizations that support education, sustainability and wellbeing.OverviewThis position will serve in a support role to the Manager of Fuels Accounting and Administration, the Director of Coal Supply and By-Products Marketing, and other team members in the Department in the discharge of the department’s responsibilities.#LGE-KUResponsibilitiesPrepares and reviews month-end closing information relating to fuel and fuel-related products, so that journal entries and/or financial calculations can be properly made to the financial statements, in compliance with GAAP, IFRS, and internal controls. Prepares monthly accounting journal entries as assigned. Reviews Daily Data Checks (DDC’s) generated by Aligne to make sure the information matches what was keyed into Aligne and all supporting documentation is attached. Provides support for Gas Accounting, including the calculation of CTS Backup and Gas AFB. Provides support for Industrial Coal Services Accounting. Provides support for all Fuels portions of the monthly Kentucky and Virginia regulatory filings. Performs reconciliation of Fuels Accounts Payable to support Corporate Accounting. Provides information for the preparation of the annual fuels O & M budget and prepares monthly budget versus actual analysis for management. Assists in providing flux analysis (actual versus budget) explanations when needed. Prepares disbursement requests related to fuel and fuel-related products, as well as departmental O&M expenses. Provides backup support for data entry for fuel receipts (via barge, truck, rail, etc.) including shipping notice, unloading report and analysis, and inputs of daily burn by unit into Aligne. Helps maintain the files for the Corporate Fuels Department in compliance with the Company Records Retention Policy. Effectively communicates with counterparts regarding changes in fuel pricing and shipping. Plans and develops financial reports and analyses using Microsoft applications, Oracle EBusiness Suite, and PowerPlan. Develops a working knowledge of the overall corporate accounting system and Chart of Accounts, GAAP, and accounting policies and procedures unique to the utility industry. Assists the Director, Manager and other Department team members on special projects and other duties when requested to do so. All other duties and projects as assigned.QualificationsEDUCATIONALEXPERIENCE-Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, economics, finance or related field.
