Sit and perform computer-based tasks.ShiftMonday – Friday, Day Shift; varies from 6:45am – 6:30pm (40 hrs/wk).Job SummaryThe Department of Surgery seeks a Surgical Quality and Process Improvement Coordinator to improve the care provided to our patients. The Coordinator will work independently and in multidisciplinary teams to develop, prioritize, implement, analyze, and monitor quality improvement projects using standardized tools and processes based on the department’s goals and objectives across the surgical care continuum.This role will also be a facilitator, educator, consultant, leader, and analyst. The Ideal candidate is: Responsible, reliable, detail-oriented, adaptive, and positive-minded, with the ability to establish and maintain collaborative working relationships with all members of the healthcare team. Able to communicate in writing and verbally in a positive, clear, and concise manner to members of all levels of the organization, including via digital technology.Utilizes best practices in change management combined with embedding change into digital systems to foster successful change.Place orders for patients to enter quality assurance program components, such as ERAS, to facilitate quality care implementation.Is skilled in using software including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel, Teams, SharePoint, and PowerPoint), database management (including clinical, operations, and administrative data), project management software, and electronic medical records.Utilizes technical skills to create reports, graphs, and visual representations of data and effectively communicates these findings to teams.Develops or supports the development of tools embedded in the electronic medical record to improve workflows and implement projects. Performs literature reviews to identify evidence-based processes for care interventions. Educate learners of all levels and provides support the development and execution of education systems for others in healthcare quality. Assists in preparing scholarly products and presentations based on quality projectsHolds expertise in internal and external quality score cards, accreditation, regulatory standards, benchmarking, and ranking systems. Supervises data analysts, data abstractors, and trainee collaborators.Skills / Knowledge / AbilitiesMicrosoft Office Suite (such as Word, Outlook, Excel, Teams, SharePoint, and PowerPoint), database management (to include clinical, operations, and administrative data), project management software, and electronic medical records. Creation of graphs, process flow charts, and dashboards. Utilization of QI tools to include Process for Improvement, Lean, Six Sigma, and Root cause analysis. Master’s or Doctoral Degree strongly preferred with a minimum of three to five years of acute surgical and/or perioperative care AND three to five years of related quality experience in a hospital setting.Does this position have supervisory responsibilities? Degree, certification, or formal training in quality improvement, informatics, process improvement, and/or healthcare management (MPH, MBA) is strongly preferred. CPHQ (Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality) preferred.
