Are you thinking of drinking less? Then consider joining our alcohol treatment research study, funded by the National Institutes of Health and being conducted by researchers at the University of Kentucky and Carilion Clinic. We are looking for people who have heavy alcohol use and are interested in cutting down or even quitting.
Eligible participants for this study will need to:
Be at least 18 years old
Use alcohol regularly
Be a United States Citizen/Resident
Have a compatible Android smartphone or be able to travel to one of our research sites
If you have a compatible Android phone, the study can be conducted completely remotely, only requiring two video conference sessions. If you need a compatible phone and can travel to one of our research sites in Lexington, KY or Roanoke, VA then we will provide you with one if you are eligible.
The study requires two video conference sessions (e.g., Zoom), roughly two weeks apart. The rest of the study can be completed through the app online. The total time in the study is 15 months, where up to the first 3 months are related to the remote treatment and the last 12 months consisting of monthly surveys. Daily time commitment during remote treatment is about 10 minutes a day.
Your time and participation will be compensated, and your participation is completely confidential. Travel may also be reasonably compensated if you are able and choose to travel to one of our research sites in Lexington, KY or Roanoke, VA.
