Our expertise in advanced data systems and AI-driven approaches drives innovation, accelerates biologics development, and ensures the delivery of high-quality biologic products to patients.Job Description:The Data Engineer Intern will be crucial in supporting the Digitalization Initiatives project within the Biologic Process Development (BPD) team. This internship offers a unique opportunity to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of Research and Development (R&D) operations by implementing advanced digital solutions. The BPD team is dedicated to fostering innovation, improving data accessibility, and streamlining workflows across various projects.How You Will Contribute:In this role, you will:

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and optimize data pipelines that ensure seamless data integration across multiple research projects, designing robust workflows that support real-time data access and analysis

Work closely with stakeholders to identify data requirements, translating these into technical specifications while assisting in designing workflows that align with project goals and ensuring efficient data flow and accessibility

Ensure that project deliverables align with organizational objectives, assisting in tracking milestones, managing timelines, and reporting progress to meet business needs.

Additionally, you will:

Support the optimization of workflows by enhancing processes related to data management and analysis, implementing solutions that improve the accuracy and accessibility of data, and contributing to better decision-making

Ensure that all data-related processes align with organizational standards and best practices in data management, collaborating with team members to maintain compliance with relevant regulations and guidelines

Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for data processes, pipelines, and workflows, providing regular updates on project status and deliverables to stakeholders.

Additionally, the intern will build valuable industry connections and receive mentorship from experienced professionals, setting the stage for future career opportunities in data engineering and biotechnology.Job Requirements:

This position will be Fully Onsite and require 4+ days in the Lexington office per week.

Must be currently pursuing a Master’s or Doctoral degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Technology, or a related field

Proficient in Python for data manipulation and analysis.

Strong experience with SQL for database querying and management.

Familiarity with AWS services (e.g., S3, Lambda, RDS) for data storage and processing.

Experience with Tableau for creating interactive dashboards and visualizations.

Basic knowledge of HTML and CSS for web interface integration.

Experience with FastAPI or similar frameworks for building APIs.

Understanding Big Data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark, Databricks) for processing large datasets.

Basic knowledge of machine learning principles and tools to support data-driven decision-making.

Experience with Apache Airflow or similar workflow orchestration tools for managing data pipelines.

At least 1 year of experience in Data engineering, Software Engineering, data analysis, or related fields is preferred.

Highly reliable and a strong team player

Flexible with an attention to detail

Strong verbal and written communication skills

Internship Eligibility

Must be authorized to work in the U.S. on a permanent basis without requiring sponsorship

Must be currently enrolled in a degree program graduating December 2025 or later

The internship program is 10-12 weeks depending on the two start dates (June 2nd- August 29th) or (June 16th - August 22nd)

The intern must be able to commit to one of these time frames

Able to work full time 40 hours a week during internship dates

Takeda does not provide a housing stipend or relocation support for the U.S Summer Internship Program

We are committed to equitable pay for all employees, and we strive to be more transparent with our pay practices.For Location:Lexington, MAU.S. Hourly Wage Range:$21.00 - $46.00The estimated hourly range reflects an anticipated range for this position. The actual hourly wage offered will depend on the candidate’s school year/level to be entered following completion of internship. The actual hourly wage offered will be in accordance with state or local minimum wage requirements for the job location.U.S. internship benefits vary by location and may include:
