Accounting Business Analyst - Remote in KY

We are currently seeking qualified candidates for an Accounting Business Analyst position. The ideal candidate will possess experience defining business problems within the scope of a financial system, gathering and documenting requirements, determining business solutions and verifying solutions meet requirements along with a strong understanding of Accounting Principles used in governmental/public practices (cash versus accrual basis of accounting).Primary Responsibilities:

  • Lead or participate in requirements gathering/JAD sessions working closely with Project Manager(s), SME's, Vendor, Programmers and Business Users.
  • Define and document requirements and use cases.
  • Troubleshooting application and/or interfaces as problems arise.
  • Troubleshooting report issues.
  • Working with user community and vendors to meet implementation timeline.
  • Support application/project go-live.
  • Demonstrating a high level of working knowledge with IS methodologies and processes (i.e. Project Life Cycle, System Development Life Cycle and IS Change Management process).
  • Gathering detailed requirements that completely define the project.
  • Create high-level models and user prototype interfaces to identify and validate business processes and resolutions when appropriate.
  • Facilitating business/functional requirement review, approval, and sign-off sessions.
  • Administering communication activities with end-user training for system implementation.
  • Identify business trends utilizing real data, compile analysis reports delivered to developers and then follow-up on all results.
  • Perform quality assurance.
  • Help with process improvement, Client issues and deliver better value.
  • Providing leadership, training, coaching, and guidance to junior staff.
  • Prioritizing initiatives based on business needs and requirements.
  • Effectively communicating insights and plans to cross-functional team members and management.
  • Ensuring solutions meet business needs and requirements. Monitor SLA's.
  • Develop comprehensive test cases at the application and multi-application levels. Conducting and directing end-user testing responsibilities.
Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree, or equivalent combination of recent, relevant work experience.
  • 3+ years working in a Business Analyst position.
  • 3+ years experience defining business problems within the scope of a financial system, gathering and documenting requirements, determining business solutions and verifying solutions meet requirements.
  • Understanding of Accounting Principles used in governmental/public practices (cash versus accrual basis of accounting).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Product Suites (Word, Excel, Access and Visio).
  • Strong understanding of SDLC methodology.
  • Experience with replacing legacy systems preferred.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Understanding of Department of Public Health systems with the ability to understand and communicate from a business and technical perspective.
  • Ability to write SQL queries in analyzing the data
  • Certified Business Analysis Professional Certification (CBAP).
