Job PurposeTo support production activities by performing various skilled and semi-skilled tasks in creating tools and repairing machinery, tooling, and fixtures.Characteristic Duties and ResponsibilitiesEssential Functions:
Proficient in such skilled tool room activities as: measuring, layout, print reading, grinding, milling, turning, boring and precision fitting.
Operates machine tools, hand tools, various test equipment as well as other types of tool room equipment.
Capable of building jig, fixtures, and tools from concept drawings.
Interprets diagrams, specifications, and drawings.
Performs all work in compliance with applicable codes and safety regulations.
Supplemental Functions
Responsible for accurate record keeping where required.
May assist with maintaining inventory and records of tool room supplies and equipment.
Will also perform other duties as assigned.
Supports ABE's Quality System and Loss Control/Safety Programs through active involvement.
Performs clean-up operations on various processes which may require the handling of hazardous wastes and insuring that these wastes are placed in the appropriate container.
Education, Training, and Experience Required:High School with minimum of 2 years vocational training in one or more machining/tool and die related areas (or equivalent experience may be required).A minimum of 3 years machinst/tool and die work experience is preferred.Working Conditions:
Manufacturing plant environment, may be noisy, dusty, cold, or hot and humid at times.
Work may be inside or outside.
May require the use of various personal protective equipment.
