Job Summary
We are seeking a reliable and dedicated Van Driver to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for safely transporting members to the Lord's diner and community outings, while providing a safe and supportive environment. This role requires a strong commitment to maintaining vehicle safety and cleanliness, adhering to all traffic laws and regulations and supporting each other with Peer Support.
Minimum Qualifications
Valid Kansas driver's license with a clean driving record; commercial driving experience is preferred and current proof of insurance.
No serious driving infractions, (exp: DUI, failure to keep insurance.)
Minimum 5 years driving experience.
Ability to transport passengers with distractions.
Ability to use directional routes (N,S,E,W, and locations).
Previous experience as a van driver, delivery driver, or in similar roles such as bus driving or paratransit is highly desirable.
Strong customer service skills with the ability to interact positively with passengers.
Knowledge of local traffic laws and regulations to ensure safe driving practices.
Ability to maintain a calm demeanor in stressful situations while prioritizing members safety.
Have reliable transportation / childcare.
Self-Identify as living with a mental health condition
Able to to lift and carry objects up to 50 pounds
Duties:
Drive members to the Lord's Diner each evening.
Driver members home each evening.
Drive members to community meetings and events.
Pick up and store the van every evening at Southards storage unit in Valley Center.
Safely operate a van or shuttle vehicle, ensuring the comfort and safety of all passengers.
Provide timely transportation services for individuals or deliveries, following predetermined routes.
Maintain the vehicle by conducting regular inspections, performing minor repairs, and ensuring cleanliness.
Assist passengers with boarding and disembarking, offering support as needed.
Communicate effectively with management and other team members regarding schedules and any issues encountered during transport.
Uphold high standards of customer service by addressing members inquiries and concerns professionally.
Flexibility in scheduling, including availability for early morning, evening, or weekend shifts if required.
Document any incidents or irregularities during transport and report them to management as necessary.
Ability to work as a team, perform written and verbal instructions.
Assist with janitorial duties.
Provide Peer Support when needed.
