Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY:
Sets up and operates numerical control machine (CNC) and other machines to cut, shape, or form metal work pieces to specifications.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Reviews setup sheet and specifications to determine setup procedure, machining sequence, and dimensions of finished work piece.Works from prints, sketches, drawing, shop routings, machine tapes, machining procedures, shop practices, engineering and other information.Attaches fixture to machine bed and positions and secures work piece in fixture according to set up instructions.Assemble cutting tools as specified.Manipulates controls and enters commands to index cutting tool to specified set point.Changes cutting tools and location of work piece during machining process as specified in set up instructions.Measures work piece for conformance to specification, using measuring instruments, such as micrometers, dial indicators, and gauges.Adjust machine feed and speed and change cutters to machine parts according to specifications when automatic programming is faulty or machine malfunction.Operates all equipment in accordance with established operational procedures, safety procedure, shop practice and sequences. Anticipates problems and prevents damage and scrap by taking appropriate precautionary care.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Can read and understand engineering (part) drawings and tool designs.Good working knowledge of shop math.Can read and understand plannings.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:
Able to stand, walk, push, pull, reach overhead, and bend to the floor. Able to exert 20 to 50 lbs. of force frequentlySubject to high noise levels from operating machinesPhysical hazards from moving equipment and machine parts.Breathing fumes, dust, and mist.Skin exposure to oils and cutting fluid.
Shifts available: 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and Weekend shifts
Must have at least 1 year of experience.
