Job Summary

Studies blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample part to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work piece, sequence of operations, and setup requirements

Measures, marks, and scribes dimensions and references points on material or work piece as guides for subsequent machining

Selects, aligns, and secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machine

Calculates and sets controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed

Starts and observes machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, and adjusts machine controls or control media as required

Verifies conformance of finished work piece to specifications

Sets up and operates machine on trial run to verify accuracy of machine settings or programmed control data.Confers with engineers, production personnel, programmers, or others to resolve machining problems

Responsible for the proper handling and management of hazardous waste generated in their work area

Other duties as assigned

Skills & Qualifications

Required Skills & Qualifications

Ability to use measuring instruments including but not limited to calipers, indicators, and scales.

Ability to operate a forklift.

Prior CNC operator experience helpful.

Read and understand internal procedures and policies.

Understand and follow through on both verbal and written instructions.

Team oriented with a continuous improvement outlook.

Basic Computer Skills - able to learn new screens, reports, functions and simple software programs with assistance.

Required Experience/Education/Training/Certifications

High School Diploma; up to 3 years related experience in job function and/or training; equivalent combination of education and experience

Math Skills – decimals, percentages, fractions - geometry and trigonometry is a plus.

Ability to read and interpret blueprints and mylars.

Prior CNC operator experience helpful.

Basic Computer Skills - able to learn new screens, reports, functions and simple software programs with assistance.

Work Environment and Safety Equipment Required

Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Must be able to communicate effectively.

Frequently required to walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms.

Occasionally required to sit, stoop, kneel or crouch.

Must be able to frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Working conditions are: 100% manufacturing environment.

Regularly required to work near moving mechanical parts.

Noise level is usually moderate.

Safety glasses (ANSI Z87 compliant) required in all manufacturing areas.

Safety Footwear shall be in accordance with the following: ASTM standard F2413-05 with minimum impact resistance, compression resistance and metatarsal designation ratings of 75 foot pounds (i.e. ASTM F2413-05 I/75 C/75 Mt/75), which are viewable on the inside tag of footwear.
