Job Description

Olsson is looking for a motivated mid-to-senior level Bridge Engineer to join our bridge and roadway team in Overland Park. Our bridge group works on a wide range of projects including bridge and retaining walls, dams, storm and traffic structures, inspections, rehabilitations, load ratings, and assisting with construction engineering services. We facilitate designs on transportation projects that include grade separations, interchanges, and stream crossings for public and private clients throughout the Midwest. You will be able to collaborate with roadway, traffic, geotechnical, and storm water engineers on projects that make a positive impact in our community while simultaneously offering you the ability to grow and pick up a wide array of skills. Your responsibilities will include the below

  • ·Serve in a lead technical position on bridge design projects
  • Project Management on small- to medium-sized projects and meet client’s needs from conception to completion
  • Supervise and mentor junior-level staff in the performance of engineering duties
  • ·Prepare proposals and engineering services contracts
  • ·Perform complex structural analysis, design, and facilitate production of plan deliverables on all aspects of transportation projects
  • ·Prepare engineering design criteria, conduct site investigations, and complete engineering studies
  • ·Calculate quantities, estimate costs, and produce technical specifications
  • ·Produce project manuals and construction bid documents
  • ·Direct internal and external work with other disciplines or subconsultants to ensure Client’s expectations are met
  • ·Occasional travel to job sites for site investigations, inspections, and project meetings
  • ·Occasionally oversee construction phase engineering services and ensure that projects are built according to the job specifications (contract administration, review and approve preconstruction submittals, answer questions, ensure QA/QC testing is completed, etc)

  • Working with multi-discipline team of engineers and technicians
  • Occasional site visits /Inspection work
  • Mentoring Technical staff
  • Mange projects from Concept through construction

You bring to the team:

  • Strong communication skills
  • Proficiency with AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design
  • Experience with bridge analysis and design programs (LARSA, LEAP Bridge Enterprise, Lpile, SPColumn, MDX)
  • Ability to contribute and work well on a team
  • Bachelor’s Degree in engineering
  • Master’s degree, or in pursuit, a plus.
  • Must be aregistered professional engineer
  • Experiencewith KDOT/MoDOT Bridge Projects
  • Experience in MicroStation
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Minimum of 5years of experience
