Ambulatory Care is mainly an outpatient department that admits and discharges surgical and endoscopy patients.We have 8 private patient bays. We care for patients Monday - Friday. No weekend hours are required. Hours ofoperation are from 5:00 am to roughly 6:00 pm. Working hours are variable and can run later in the evening, butwe aim for 10-hour shifts per day. Patients are admitted at a 1:1 ratio. Discharges can be at a ratio of 1:2. Patientcare is assigned to specific nurses, but each nurse helps out with all patient care as they are able. Orientation isindividualized and is worked out between the new nurse and precepting nurse and is completed when both nursesfeel orientation is finished. Each nurse knows which days they will work, but the exact time of arrival on a workday is determined by patient volumes and patient arrival times, and each nurse is informed of their work arrivaltime the afternoon prior to the work day. Ambulatory Care staffs on average 3-4 nurses per day. Dailyresponsibilities include direct outpatient pre and post-op care as well as phone dialogue with patients performingpre-op assessments and post-op checks.What You Will DoProvides direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures and protocols of the healthcare organization. Implement and monitor patient care plans. Monitor, record and communicate patient condition as appropriate.
Serve as a primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care.
Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
Assess and coordinate patient's discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team.
What You Will NeedLicensure / Certification / Registration: BLS Provider credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA) obtained within 3 Months (90days) of hire date or job transfer date required.
Licensed Registered Nurse credentialed from the Kansas Board of Nursing required.
Education:
Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing required.
