Job DescriptionPosition Description:Senior Technician, Cell CultureWe are hiring for a Senior Operations Technicians within the Cell Cultu Department here at the DeSoto Site. The hiring team will evaluate your skills to determine where you can make the greatest positive impact.Our Manufacturing Site in De Soto, Kansas, located near Kansas City metropolitan area is a leader in manufacturing vaccines and biologics for livestock and companion animals. Leveraging an experienced and innovative team environment, the key technologies at the site are found within the vaccine and antigen production teams following fermentation and cell culture, processes.The antigen Manufacturing operation is made up of teams that carry out the production activities for the preparation and sterilization of equipment, preparation and sterilization of media components, fermentation of bacterial antigens, and downstream processing of bacterial antigens.This team is responsible for key processing activities in the manufacture of antigens to be used in the blending of final vaccines. Department activities include cleaning, set up and sterilization of large scale equipment and the continuation of antigen batches required for final vaccine blending. This position will be focusing on both upstream and downstream processing of an antigen.Our current opening is for the following shift:

Monday – Friday, 7:00 AM -3:30 PM

Position Qualifications:Education Minimum Requirement:

High School diploma or equivalent and 3 years applicable work or military experience Or

BS in Biology or related Science preferred.

Required Experience and Skills:

Relevant manufacturing experience (1-3 Years); Analytical, scientific, and mechanical trouble shooting skills;

Good written and verbal communication skills;

Good computer skills;

Strict attention to detail and safety;

Ability to lift 25 pounds on an intermittent basis.

Comprehensive understanding of aseptic process in daily activities.

Demonstrates comprehensive understanding of Good Documentation Practices and Standard Operating Procedures.

Basic awareness of quality improvement tools and MPS processes. Understanding and awareness of USDA regulations.

​Strong knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices demonstrated within applicable manufacturing environment.

The position requires someone who can demonstrate excellent attention to detail and achieve a consistent error-free execution of dailyjobassignments, be able to complete documentation using Good Documentation Practices and be able to identify opportunities for process improvement and employ basic problem-solving skills.

Proficient oral and written communication skills.

Able to follow/comply with Manufacturing Directions, Standard Operating Procedures, Company/Corporate/Regulatory Policies.

Can demonstrate basic skills in effective time management to meet given deadlines.

Can demonstrate ability to perform basic laboratory procedures.

Ability to work effectively with team members and show initiative to assist others on the team when needed.

Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Word and Excel.

Preferred Education, Experience and Skills:

Degree in Microbiology, Biotechnology, Immunology or similar.

Experience working in a manufacturing environment.

Experience using large scale filtration and separation techniques.

Knowledge of aseptic processes used in manufacturing.

Experience using quality improvement tools and continuous improvement processes and site quality metrics.

Knowledge of system-controlled material usage through ERP environments such as SAP.
