Assistant Controller

DescriptionRobert Half Direct has an immediate full-time Assistant Controller job opportunity. This position will be responsible for supporting the regional Controller for our client. You will maintain all facets of general ledger, accounting, fixed assets, accruals, work papers, audit support, weekly, monthly and annual financial statement closing, cash forecasting and other special projects as they arise. Microsoft office products experience is a must with heavy use and knowledge of Microsoft Excel. Duties may include overseeing accounts receivable and accounts payable functions. Room for advancement to full controller.Position Duties and Responsibilities: General ledger tasks include: Reconcile accounts receivable monthly Analyze assigned general ledger accounts on a monthly basis and research differences Prepare assigned journal entries Maintain Property & Equipment Depreciation Schedules Assist in month end general ledger closing procedures Assists in preparation of monthly Financial Report Gather all information for the program census reports and prepare monthly reports Prepare analysis on program expenditures per their request Assists state cost reports Assist in budget preparation Other duties as assigned Oversight of the following accounts payable functions: General ledger coding of all invoices from the programs. General ledger coding of all check stubs from the programs. Review data input of invoices and check stubs. Process the month end closing which includes reviewing the monthly check register reconciliation and printing all related reports. Oversight of the following accounts receivable functions: Review past due reports and contact administrator for large balance accounts. Compile list of accounts that need to be written off for Corporate Controller’s review. Update Corporate Controller on accounts over 120 days past due at month end.Requirements Bachelors degree Minimum 2 years of related accounting experience Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, GP, and other software Excellent verbal and written communication skills Well developed organizational skills and ability to carry out duties with limited supervision Take an interest and initiative in the development of the department's team.
