Job DescriptionIowa Workforce Development is seeking to hire a Career Planner at our IowaWORKS Waterloo, IA office. Agency OverviewIowa Workforce Development (IWD) is a state agency committed to providing employment services for individual job seekers and to connecting employers to available workers through our IowaWORKS partnership. Career Planner key responsibilities:The successful Career Planner is this position will greet customers upon entry into the IowaWORKS center and direct to appropriate event or appointment. Provide courtesy, respect, and politeness during all interactions with customers, both internal and external.

Determine services they are seeking and/or needing and interact effectively and build respectful relationships among coworkers and partners.

Collaborate with team members within the IowaWORKSoffice, resulting in a better experience for customers.

Provide feedback as well as potential solutions to team and/or leadership.

Provide first day service to veterans.

Career Planners coach, educate, and encourage job seekers on all aspects of the job search and assist customers to build their personal and job skills for the primary goal of successful employment.

Answer questions about employment opportunities.

Facilitate customers in using computers, (i.e. searching internet, labor market information, educational options).

Help write resumes and cover letters and educate clients in the use of self-help services and services available at the IowaWORKS office.

Process paperwork for partner and team programs and services.

Provide proficiency tests and skill assessments.

Assist community organizations, businesses, and other agencies by providing:

Labor market information.

Child labor forms.

Verification of work registration.

Wage verification.

Wage Claim forms.

Help businesses with job fairs and hiring events.

Promote employment events.

In the role as a Career Planner, you will assist customers by answering questions about employment and training opportunities. Perform ''job matching" referring career opportunities to candidates in the IowaWORKSSystem and provide appropriate partner referrals. Relay current labor market information to job candidates.Your responsibilities will provide direct services to business for recruitment of employees.

Provide information and guidance to employers on how to use the IowaWORKSsystem.

Identify sources for potential new employer customers for the American Job Center.

Participate in development and implementation of customized recruitment strategies and events.

Provide follow-up contact and services to job seekers and business.

Utilize case management system for tracking and maintaining employer information.

Critique and enter job orders and referrals into the IowaWORKSsystem.

Collaborate with businesses to determine hiring practices and employer needs.

Perform essential unemployment insurance (UI) activities and services to clients for all IWD programs and services.

Data enter UI claim information as needed and adjudicate issues as they arise.

Problem solve UI claim issues.

Answer incoming calls for UI claim questions.

Provide forms for appeal and other partner agencies.

Provide staffing for wage verification as needed.
