Infrastructure Engineer

Description We are offering a contract to hire employment opportunity for an Infrastructure Engineer based in Urbandale, Iowa. This role involves supporting the Information Technology (IT) Infrastructure team in ensuring maximum availability, reliability, and performance of IT infrastructure and systems. As an Infrastructure Engineer, you will be expected to design, deploy, and maintain various IT systems such as physical and virtual servers, storage arrays, and network equipment for on-premises offices and cloud-based services.Responsibilities: Design, deploy, and manage IT infrastructure including servers, networks, storage, and cloud services. Implement system configuration best practices, security measures, and performance optimization to ensure high availability and reliability. Collaborate with IT and software development teams to support the integration and deployment of applications and services. Conduct regular performance monitoring and troubleshooting, diagnosing issues, and implementing solutions to maintain system reliability and uptime. Manage backup and disaster recovery solutions, including regular backups, replication, and failover procedures, to safeguard critical data and applications. Develop and maintain infrastructure automation tools and scripts to streamline deployment, provisioning, and management tasks. Support 24x7 operations and IT Service Management, including ticket handling to resolution, escalations, and vendor management. Manage all aspects of Active Directory, Azure Active Directory, and DNS (Internal/External). Document infrastructure configurations, processes, and procedures to ensure knowledge sharing and supportability. Ensure proper Asset Management of all Configuration Items in the Configuration Management Database (CMDB). Identify areas for improvement within the organization spanning departments outside of IT. Requirements Proficiency in Amazon Web Services (AWS) is essential for this role Knowledge of Microsoft Azure is required Familiarity with Amazon EC2 is a must Experience with VMware, VMware Infrastructure, and VMware Technologies is important PowerShell Scripting skills are necessary Infrastructure Engineer applicants must have strong problem-solving skills Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, are required Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently Strong understanding of network architecture and application development methodologies Proven track record of managing and delivering large-scale enterprise IT projects Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field is required Relevant professional certifications in IT and Cloud Computing would be a plus A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar role is required.
