Job DescriptionThe Iowa Department of Revenue’s Compliance Bureau within the Tax Management Division is currently seeking a Revenue Examiner 3 to join the corporate tax team. The Compliance Bureau administers all tax filings and tax payments, and verifies accuracy through examination or audit. Compliance handles tax billings and issues tax refunds for all tax types.The Tax Management Division (TMD) strives to be helpful to taxpayers by providing education and service so taxpayers can comply with tax filing and payment obligations. TMD has three business units/bureaus:

Operations

Compliance

Collections

In this position you will be responsible for:

Understanding and implementing tax law, accounting methods, and auditing procedures.

Performing complex office audits in multiple tax types and completing research and investigations to determine taxability

Communicating clearly and concisely, working independently, and exercising objective and accurate decision making

Providing training and lead worker responsibilities to accomplish program objectives

Answering questions from employees and taxpayers

Preference will be given to candidates with experience in the following:

Training and developing processes, procedures, training materials and continuous improvement plans

Mentoring and coaching trainee’s, able to give effective instruction and feedback

Auditing multiple tax types

Resolving escalated issues

Experience working with IDR software applications
