Employment Type:Full timeShift:Description:Employment Type:Full TimeShift:Days, may vary - 8:30 am-5 pmPosition Purpose:Under limited supervision, checks patients into the department, enters patient information in the Radiology computer systems, retrieves previous films, schedules radiology studies, checks films in and out, batches, prints and sends radiology reports, sorts and distributes mail. Performs secretarial role and assists management by performing routine and administrative tasks. Works closely with hospital staff, doctors' offices, and outreach hospitals and clinics.What you will Do:

Greets guests who come to the Radiology reception desk and directs or assists them to the waiting room.

Checks Radiology computer system to see whether or not patient has previous films.

Pulls patient’s previous films, if any, places requisition on the board in the work area or notifies appropriate technician that a patient is waiting. If patient has old same studies, digitizes old studies for comparison.

Answers incoming telephone calls, schedules radiology studies and responds to questions from physicians and nursing staff regarding films and reports. Relays test results by telephone or fax when requested

Maintains outside film log and returns outside films on a timely basis.

Uploads into PACS, outside films and CD’s for reference.

Prepares films and/or CD’s for referring physicians, hospitals, patients or law offices. Send images via PACS or other system (Emix) to hospitals and clinic.

Assists in filing final reports in patient files and with filing of x-ray films and reports.

Sorts and distributes incoming mail, prepares outgoing mail for mailroom.

Receives and pages requests for Radiology staff to perform exams outside of the Radiology Department (Surgery, portable exams on nursing units, Code Reds and Traumas).

Relays factual information within guidelines of hospital regulations, referring major administrative or technical questions to the appropriate person.

Assists students in performing and understanding office procedures, demonstrates an understanding and professional attitude towards students.

Minimum Qualifications:

High school graduate or equivalent required, knowledge of medical terminology.

Must have a minimum of 1-2 years prior secretarial experience in health care setting, such as physician’s office, etc., doing medical transcription, filing of patient records and/or medical receptionist.

Is able to communicate effectively with all members of the health care team.

Is able to perform a variety of duties characterized by frequent change.
