Job Summary Work Shift1 - First ShiftAre you the type of machinist who has an analytical mind that likes to creatively solve problems? In this role you will broaden your machining skills across the entire shop to set up and operate machining equipment while actively implementing improvement ideas. We’re looking for cross functional, technical machining experience, ability to identify, troubleshoot, and solve safety, quality, and functionality problems within machining processes driven by a commitment to deliver quality parts to support the Vermeer brand promise.What You’ll Do

Set up and operate various machining equipment, including but not limited to: steel saws, buffers, threaders, various drilling machines, press brakes, plate cutters, machining centers, gas or fiber lasers, benders, and various types of computer numerically controlled (CNC) equipment.

Read blueprints or process sheets for specification such as dimensions and tolerances, tooling instructions, feed rates, cutting speeds, depth of cuts and cutting tools. Perform multiple tasks simultaneously.

Determine the sequence of operations and set up requirements. Select proper equipment, including tooling fixtures and accessories to complete a task.

Calculate figures and apply basic mathematical functions including fractions and decimals to adjust machine settings to provide the best quality part with the greatest efficiency. Utilize measuring tools to verify product quality upon completion.

Perform and document total preventative maintenance (TPM).

Execute problem solving techniques and root cause analysis.

Support 5S/workplace organization goals of the department and offers suggestions and makes improvements that assist in achieving the department’s performance board metrics.

Train and mentor new machining team members.

What We’re Looking For

Pass Machinist III assessment at 90% or higher.

Minimum of two years machining experience at Vermeer or 3 years machining/machining training elsewhere.

Ability to meet productivity and quality expectations, apply problem solving techniques, and utilize root cause analysis on a minimum of 5 types of machining equipment (does not include hoist or forklift).

Master Rigger Training.

High level of quality performance and output.
