MCRHC is a 25-bed critical access hospital, including a Level 4 Trauma Center Emergency Room seeing 3,200 visits annually. The Surgical Services department performs over 1,300 procedures annually, including specialties General Surgery, Orthopedics, ENT, Urology, Ophthalmology, Pain management, and Podiatry. Salary: Based on experience The registered staff Operating Room nurse accepts the responsibility and accountability for the delivery of patient care through the use of the nursing process. The registered Nurse directs and guides patient care, teaches ancillary personnel while maintaining professional nursing standards. The registered nurse establishes competency in caring for patients requiring surgical intervention of any specialty. The MCRHC Professional Nursing Practice Plan Policies and Procedures and AORN Standards of Care and Practice guides the registered nurse's practice. The registered nurse also accepts responsibility and accountability for the delivery of care for the Recovery Room patient through the use of the nursing process. Care for all types of patients in Recovery Room with particular attention to the complex patient population, while maintaining professional nursing standards. Position:A. Assesses patients and identifies obvious physical and psychosocial needs. Develops ability to identify common physical and psychosocial needs of the patient. B. Implements a plan of care, through nursing diagnosis upon admission to the preoperative holding area or the operating room suite. Procedures of surgical interventions and surgeon and anesthesia preferences are considered. Provides assistance to other staff nurses in developing plan of care for their patients. C. Implement the plan of care based on AORN Standards of Practice, health center policies and procedures, physician preferences and patient/family needs. D. As a circulating nurse, assesses surgeon and scrub nurse needs in caring for the patient. Advocate for patient safety, confidentiality, respect, and all other rights. Directs scrub nurse in meeting patient needs. As scrub nurse uses instruments by case anticipating surgeon needs and advising the circulator of those needs. E. Evaluates patient/family responses to the nursing interventions. Conveys assessed needs to intra and postoperative care providers. F. Participates in activities, which promote better patient care, nursing development and professional growth. G. Demonstrates principles of effective communication skills and promotes positive relationships within the department, with other departments and with health center guests and clients. H. Collaborates with members of the interdisciplinary health care team to achieve desired patient care outcomes. What We Need From You: Must have OR scrub experience. Position Qualifications

Education:

Graduate of an accredited training program for registered Professional Nurses and current registration in state of Iowa.

Experience: 1. Experience working in Pre-Op/ Post -Op and Recovery preferred.

Minimum 1 year experience circulating and/or scrubbing cases in the Operating Room required.

Special Skills & Aptitudes:

BLS required. ACLS & PALS required within 90 days of hire.

Must have basic computer skills.
