Job DescriptionWe are currently recruiting for a Reentry Career Planner to join our team to facilitate and document services to soon to be released offenders with special employment and training needs. This position will be based on-site at the Iowa Connectional Institute for Women (ICIW) in Mitchellville, Iowa.About Iowa Workforce DevelopmentIowa Workforce Development (IWD) is a state agency dedicated to providing exceptional employment services and connecting employers with skilled workers. With a strong focus on continuous improvement and aligning services with workforce demands, IWD offers comprehensive support to job seekers and employers through a statewide network of IowaWORKS Centers.Position Description:In this role, the Reentry Career Planner will provide intensive services that are defined as comprehensive and specialized assessments of skill levels and service needs; including development of an individual employment plan to identify the employment goals, appropriate achievement objectives and appropriate combination of services for the participant to achieve desired results. This includes the following:

Set employment goals around the job search upon release.

Participate in individual and group counseling, career planning.

Short-term prevocational services that may include development of learning skills, communication skills, interviewing skills, punctuality, personal maintenance skills, and professional conduct.

Prepare individuals for unsubsidized employment or training to develop and maintain a documented plan of action for clients with proper and tin1ely case notes. Will provide and facilitate employment and training services with a primary focus of meeting needs of clients who are unable to obtain employment or require additional assistance through core service.

Will conduct ongoing follow-up meaningful activities that will enhance the ex-offender's employability (i.e., job development) to ensure successful outcomes, contacting all serviced clients once a week at a minimum.

Conduct appropriate re-employment-oriented workshops, assessments, and CRC testing events to ex-offenders.

Provide ex-offenders with timely and appropriate labor exchange services. Provide information about Work Opportunity Tax Credit (WOTC), Federal Bonding, unemployment insurance, TANF, food assistance, Vocational Rehabilitation, Veterans, and other community resources.

Coordinate with Business Services Team at Des Moines Iowa Works to match ex-offenders with job opportunities and provide labor exchange services leading to job placement.

Provide ongoing follow-up to support ex-offenders to reduce recidivism and likelihood of re-offending.

Essential Functions:

Ability to deal effectively with persons representing various backgrounds, interests, skill levels and points of view.

Self-directed, manage time and deadlines, independent or with others.

Track record of regular attendance, produce quality work and deliver results.

Ability to operate a PC and use MS Outlook, Word, Publisher, Excel, & PowerPoint, and other programs that may be used.

Complete other duties as assigned.
