Based in Marshalltown IA, we are looking for an innovative and hard-working Machining Supervisor to play a pivotal role in our manufacturing process. This role requires a blend of technical expertise, critical thinking, and leadership skills to drive continuous improvement and achieve organizational objectives. You will ensure that the machining processes are carried out safely, efficiently, and according to quality standards!In this Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:

Safety Culture: Maintain a strong safety culture and a safe work environment. Responsible for completing safety audits, daily safety start-ups, inspections, and generating ideas for improve safety.

Drive Process Improvement: Continuously evaluate machining processes to find opportunities for improvement in efficiency, productivity, and cost-effectiveness. Implement changes and standard processes to enhance overall performance.

Resource Management: Manage resources such as materials, labor, and equipment to optimize production output and minimize waste.

Communication: Maintain open and effective communication with management and other departments, including engineering, quality assurance, and operations, to coordinate activities and resolve any issues that may arise.

Deliver Results: Deliver departmental goals and objectives in alignment with organizational targets. Supervise key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess departmental performance and identify areas for improvement.

Collaborate with other departments, such as engineering, production planning, and quality assurance, to ensure seamless integration of machining activities into the overall manufacturing process.

Develop the team: Provide coaching, guidance, and mentorship to employees, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous learning.

Technology and Innovation: Evaluate potential investments in new equipment, software, or tools to enhance productivity, quality, and cost-effectiveness.

High School Diploma or equivalent experience with 5 years in a leadership role or bachelor’s degree with 2 years supervisory experience

Excellent oral and written communication skills

Ability to lead in a fast-paced and dynamic environment

Dedicated, diligent, and accountable

Preferred Qualifications that Set You Apart:

Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a technology field

Prior management or supervision experience in a manufacturing environment

Knowledge of machining theory, tooling, and work holding practices.

Hands-on machining experience preferred.

Knowledge of industry standards in machining.

Experience with implementing process improvement initiatives, such as Kaizen or 5S.

Experience with setup and operation of conventional, CNC mills and lathes

Solid understanding of machining processes, equipment, and materials.

Proven experience in machining operations, with at least 5 years of experience in supervision.

Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies

Experience in problem-solving and decision-making, with the ability to analyze data and implement solutions.

Experience in operating within a unionized work environment
