TITLE: Principal REPORTS TO: Superintendent TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Full Time, Salary, 260-day contract with vacation days. SALARY :Salary as recommended by the Superintendent within Board established range. PURPOSE : Be dedicated to the development of lifelong learners by providing leadership, supervisory, and administrative skills that promote the education development of each student. MAJOR FUNCTIONS: Marion Independent School District is seeking the next instructional leader who shares the district's core values of Academic Excellence and Collaborative Relationships, and is ready to operationalize the Mission of 'Fostering a community of learners in developing the knowledge and skills to be Future Ready'. The Principal will function as an instructional leader at Francis Marion Intermediate, a 3rd and 4th grade attendance center, and as a collaborative member of the Marion Independent School District (MISD) team of administrators. MISD is located in Marion, Iowa and is a part of the larger Cedar Rapids metro area. As the smallest district in the metro area, MISD offers the perfect balance of a 'small school family feel' along with 'big school amenities'. The Principal will be responsible for effective administration of all the laws, policies, regulations and rules that apply to the operation of the school building and of the district as a member of the district administrative team. Specifically, as an instructional leader, the Principal will carry out the following essential duties and responsibilities aligned to the Iowa Standards for School Leaders:

SPECIFICATIONS/QUALIFICATIONS: Education & Experience:

A master’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university

A valid Iowa administrative license or ability to obtain (appropriate to level)

A valid Iowa evaluator approval or ability to obtain

A minimum of 5 years of teaching experience with preference at the appropriate level

Prior leadership experience as an administrator or teacher leader preferred
