Description We are offering a short-term contract employment opportunity for a Controller in the manufacturing industry, based in Johnston, Iowa. The selected candidate will play a pivotal role in managing and overseeing various accounting operations, systems management, cost accounting, compliance and risk management, as well as team leadership. Accounting Operations:

Oversee day-to-day accounting activities including journal entries, reconciliations, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and month-end close.

Ensure proper internal controls are in place and adhered to within the accounting team.

Coordinate and assist with the preparation of year-end audits and tax filings.

Manage inventory accounting, including periodic physical counts and reconciliation to financial records.

Systems & Software Management:

Utilize QuickBooks and Sage to manage accounting functions effectively, ensuring data integrity and efficiency.

Oversee the implementation of system improvements or changes, ensuring smooth integration with accounting practices.

Provide training to team members on QuickBooks, Sage, and accounting best practices.

Cost Accounting:

Analyze manufacturing costs and suggest cost-saving opportunities within the production process.

Maintain cost accounting systems and ensure accuracy in inventory valuation.

Work closely with the operations team to allocate costs accurately and improve efficiency.

Compliance & Risk Management:

Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations, as well as other relevant accounting standards.

Assist with internal audits, ensuring controls are in place to mitigate financial risks.

Team Leadership:

Mentor and develop junior accounting staff, providing guidance on best practices.

Assist in team development and help build a collaborative, high-performing team.

Requirements

Manufacturing experience required Familiarity with various Accounting Software Systems is necessary. Proficient in handling all Accounting Functions. Experience in managing Accounts Payable (AP) is needed.
