Full Time Help on 220 cow dairy farm / herdsman!
We are a progressive dairy farm that is looking for the right candidate to help with herdsman responsibilities/ and other farm work!
Qualifications: This person needs to understand the unique characteristics of the dairy cow/ dairy heifer under his /hers control. This person needs to help identify sick, lame, or vulnerable cattle. The candidate for this position must be confident to make timely decisions in regards to cattle health and reproduction, the administration of medications, cow comfort, and milk production, as well as be an excellent verbal, digital, written communicator.
Primary responsibilities: The herdsman's responsibilities include but are not limited to
8- 10 milkings per week
Treatment of all cattle in need of medical treatments
A.I. Breeding and ovsync injections to cows/ heifers
Movement of cattle in accordance of gestation / age
Daily / weekly/ monthly maintenance of cattle equipment and machinery
Cleaning of parlor and milking equipment based on USDA standards
Assisting providing feed to dairy cows/ heifers
Assist in calf feeding
Secondary Responsibilities:
Assist in removal of animal waste ( i.e. hauling manure)
Helping with field work and crop harvesting
Helping with on farm construction projects
Assist with snow removal and maintenance of the farm grounds
Compensation-
Pay will be based on experience $15- $20 per hour with 50 hour weeks, over time after 50 hours. Holiday pay also available. Very flexible but limited weekend hours!
